in transforming the existing infrastructure into customer
desired networks. OFS plays a vital role in the transformation
process with the client. For the transformation of existing
data in to customer specific form, OFS uses different Translation
Tool to develop the desired data form. Using this tool the
data structure is defined and mapping rules are created by
referring to the existing data map structure of the client.
OFS employs skilled consultants who can efficiently use the
tool in the migration process.
Following are the types of migration that is prevailing at
OFS
1.Migration Type - 1
2.Migration type - 2
3.Migration Type - 3
4.OFS EDI workflow
Migration Type -1
Migration type – 1 (EDI Translator changes from one
product to another product).
OFS develops new maps in new translator software if the customer
wants to change EDI translator from one product to another
product, without changing the backend system. OFS typically
uses the knowledge of old translator maps, old test cases
and validates the new maps using compare utilities.
Migration type – 2
Migration type – 2 (Same Translator, but Backend system
changes from one ERP/Legacy system to Latest ERP System).
This is done when customer wants to change their Backend system
because of business reasons but want to keep same EDI translator.
OFS develops new maps as new backend system requires new
data application layouts. OFS typically uses the knowledge
of old translator maps, old test cases and New ERP standard
layouts. OFS validates the new maps with the help of ERP resources.
Migration Type-3
Migration type – 3 (Both Translator and backend system
change). If customer wants to change their Backend system
because of business reasons and wants to update their EDI
sub-system so he wants to change EDI translator also. Her,
the third type of migration is applied. This will be more
complex case in the migration process.
OFS develops new maps, as new backend system requires new
data application layouts. OFS typically uses the knowledge
of old translator maps, old test cases and New ERP standard
layouts. It validates the new maps with the help of ERP resources.
